As a result of the extremely successful physical activity health promotion initiative, in motion, a National Community Physical Activity Summer Institute is being hosted at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon on August 14th-17th, 2006. The focus of the summer institute is to provide an environment where researchers and community implementation professionals have an opportunity to exchange learnings and share potential opportunities for future collaboration around the area of health promotion with a focus on physical activity initiatives and based on the internationally recognized in motion model. In motion began in Saskatoon, Canada in the spring of 2000, under the partnership and leadership of the Saskatoon Health Region, City of Saskatoon, University of Saskatchewan and ParticipACTION. It is now being implemented by communities and provinces across Canada and has been referred to as the new ParticipACTION. More info is here.
